Job Description:
PRIME FUNCTION
To oversee and manage daily production operations in the Aerospace Critical Machining division by ensuring achievement of production targets, optimum utilization of resources, adherence to quality standards, delivery commitments, safety requirements, and continuous improvement initiatives.
JOB DESCRIPTION / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, monitor, and control daily production activities to achieve production schedules and customer delivery requirements.
- Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machines, tooling, and other resources to maximize productivity.
- Supervise machining operations and ensure compliance with approved process parameters, work instructions, and quality standards.
- Coordinate with PPC, Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, and Stores departments for uninterrupted production flow.
- Monitor production performance, machine utilization, cycle times, downtime, and productivity metrics.
- Ensure adherence to aerospace customer requirements, process specifications, and quality management systems.
- Analyze production bottlenecks, process deviations, and downtime issues and implement corrective actions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, and productivity enhancement projects.
- Ensure preventive maintenance activities are carried out as planned to minimize machine breakdowns.
- Review and maintain production records, shift reports, rejection reports, and operational KPIs.
- Monitor rejection, rework, and scrap levels and implement actions for quality improvement.
- Support new product development, process validation, and production trials.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental requirements, and company policies.
- Conduct daily production meetings and review production performance against targets.
- Lead, train, and develop supervisors, engineers, operators, and shop-floor personnel.
- Support internal audits, customer audits, and regulatory compliance activities.
- Drive cost reduction initiatives through productivity improvement and waste elimination.
AUTHORITY
- Allocate manpower and machine loading based on production priorities.
- Approve daily production deployment and operational plans.
- Stop production in case of quality, safety, or process non-conformance.
- Escalate critical production, quality, and delivery concerns to Production Manager.
- Recommend process improvements and corrective actions.
- Review and approve routine production reports and operational records.
JOB SPECIFICATION / COMPETENCY
Educational Qualification
- BE / B. Tech in Mechanical, Production, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline.
Experience
- 9 to 15 years of experience in Production / Manufacturing Operations.
- Experience in Aerospace, Precision Machining, Automotive, or Engineering Manufacturing industry preferred.
Technical Competencies
- Strong knowledge of CNC machining and manufacturing processes.
- Understanding of aerospace manufacturing requirements and quality systems.
- Knowledge of production planning, resource utilization, and shop-floor management.
- Familiarity with GD&T, engineering drawings, process sheets, and manufacturing documentation.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, TPM, OEE, and continuous improvement tools.
- Understanding of root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies.
- Working knowledge of ERP/SAP systems and production reporting.
- Knowledge of safety, quality, and environmental compliance requirements.
