PRIME FUNCTION
To manage end-to-end activities related to fixture design, manufacturing, maintenance, and calibration of gauges and measuring instruments, ensuring production continuity, quality compliance, and cost optimization.
JOB DESCRIPTION / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure high availability and reliability of fixtures, gauges, and measuring instruments to support uninterrupted production.
- Minimize downtime and prevent line stoppages due to fixture or instrument failures.
- Ensure zero customer complaints related to fixtures, gauges, and measuring systems.
- Plan and execute calibration activities; ensure 100% adherence to calibration schedules and maintain proper records.
- Conduct MSA studies and ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Prepare work instructions and maintain master data for fixtures, gauges, and lab equipment.
- Monitor quality objectives and initiate corrective actions for deviations.
- Support design, development, trials, and validation of new fixtures for NPD.
- Manage inventory, stock verification, and ensure timely procurement based on reorder levels.
- Ensure availability of resources for calibration and maintenance activities.
- Develop and manage vendors; ensure timely delivery and address supplier non-conformities.
- Drive cost optimization through negotiation and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with IMS standards (IATF 16949, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, ESG).
- Utilize SAP PM module for maintenance planning and tracking.
- Lead and guide team members; coordinate with cross-functional teams.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen, QCC, Lean).
- Prepare MIS reports and present in Management Review Meetings (MRM).
- Engage with customers, collect feedback, and support audits and training programs.
AUTHORITY
- Plan and execute calibration and maintenance activities within defined scope.
- Approve maintenance schedules, calibration plans, and inventory requirements.
- Coordinate with vendors and internal stakeholders for timely execution.
- Escalate critical issues impacting production, quality, or compliance.
JOB SPECIFICATION / COMPETENCY
- Experience: 7–8 years in fixture/tooling, calibration, and metrology
- Education: BE / B.Tech in Mechanical / Instrumentation or related field
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of fixture design and manufacturing
- Expertise in calibration systems and metrology
- Knowledge of MSA and quality standards (IATF / ISO)
- Working knowledge of SAP PM module
