Job Description: 

PRIME FUNCTION

To support Aerospace Business Development through technical evaluation, costing & estimation, customer specification interpretation, and coordination of aerospace-specific processes to drive new business opportunities and secure aerospace programs and contracts.

JOB DESCRIPTION / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Read, interpret, and analyse aerospace engineering drawings with strong understanding of GD&T and aerospace tolerancing practices.
  • Perform accurate costing and estimation for aerospace manufacturing processes including machining, sheet metal, forging, casting, assembly, and precision components.
  • Prepare detailed technical and commercial proposals in line with customer requirements and international aerospace standards.
  • Carry out CAD modelling, drafting, and configuration studies as required for proposals, feasibility analysis, and value engineering.
  • Evaluate and coordinate special aerospace processes such as heat treatment, surface treatment, NDT, coating, and qualification documentation.
  • Liaise with aerospace customers, OEMs, and Tier-1/Tier-2 suppliers for requirement understanding, technical clarifications, and project discussions.
  • Support the Business Development team with technical inputs for tenders, RFQs, pricing submissions, and long-term agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with aerospace industry standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare qualification documents including First Article Inspection (FAI – AS9102), process qualification, and support customer and regulatory audits.
  • Contribute to opportunity mapping, market intelligence, competitive analysis, and proposal strategy for aerospace programs.

AUTHORITY

  • Technical approval authority for costing and estimation inputs for assigned aerospace RFQs.
  • Decision-making authority on CAD models, drawing interpretations, and feasibility assessments for proposals.
  • Coordination authority with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Production, Quality, SCM, Special Processes) for data collection and validation.
  • Customer interaction authority for technical discussions, clarifications, and proposal-related engagements.

JOB SPECIFICATION / COMPETENCY

Qualification:

  • BE/Diploma BE / B. Tech in Mechanical / Aeronautical / Manufacturing Engineering

Experience:

  • 3–5 years

Key Competencies:

  • Strong aerospace drawing reading and GD&T interpretation skills.
  • Proficiency in CAD modelling and drafting tools (e.g., CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • In-depth knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes and associated cost drivers.
  • Expertise in estimation, costing, and preparation of technical and commercial proposals.
  • Understanding of aerospace special processes, surface treatments, and qualification requirements.
  • Ability to interpret and implement customer specifications and international aerospace standards.
  • Experience with aerospace qualification documentation such as FAI (AS9102), PPAP-like requirements, and process validations.
  • Strong analytical skills, communication ability, and business development mindset.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 QMS, configuration management, and documentation practices.

PERFORMANCE MEASURES

  • Accuracy, completeness, and turnaround time of costing and estimation submissions.
  • Conversion rate of aerospace proposals into confirmed orders or long-term contracts.
  • Quality, compliance, and audit-readiness of technical submissions and qualification documents.

  • Contribution to new aerospace business opportunities, program wins, and revenue growth.
