Job Description: 

JOB DESCRIPTION / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Heat treatment processes (carburizing, quenching, tempering, annealing, normalizing, etc.).
  • Ensure adherence to process parameters and metallurgical standards.
  • Analyze metallurgical properties and recommend process improvements.
  • Troubleshoot heat treatment defects such as distortion, cracking, hardness variation, and microstructural issues.
  • Coordinate with production, quality, and design teams to meet product requirements.
  • Lead process validation and qualification activities.
  • Monitor furnace performance, calibration, and maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards (e.g., ISO, CQI-9 where applicable).
  • Maintain process documentation, SOPs, and records.
  • Train and guide junior engineers and operators.
  • Support audits (internal/external) and implement corrective actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives (cost, quality, cycle time)
  • AUTHORITY  
  •  Stop production in case of non-conformance or safety risk.
  •  Recommend equipment upgrades and process improvements.
  • Approve inspection and testing methods related to heat treatment

JOB SPECIFICATION / COMPETENCY

          Educational Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering / mechanical engineering (Master’s preferred).

           Experience:

  • 3-6 years of experience in heat treatment operations and metallurgical analysis.

    Technical Skills:

    • Strong knowledge of heat treatment processes and metallurgy.
    • Familiarity with furnace types (batch, continuous, vacuum).
    • Understanding standards such as CQI-9, AMS, ASTM, etc.
    • Experience with hardness testing, microstructure analysis, and failure analysis.
