Job Description: 

Manager – Maintenance (Machine Shop)  - Responsible for ensuring maximum uptime and efficient operation of CNC, VMC, and grinding machines through preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance activities. The role involves troubleshooting mechanical systems, improving machine reliability, managing maintenance teams, and coordinating with production to achieve operational targets.

JOB DESCRIPTION / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Machine Availability & Reliability – Ensure maximum uptime and reliability of CNC, VMC, grinding, and other machine-shop equipment.
  • Preventive & Predictive Maintenance – Plan and execute PM/PdM schedules to minimize breakdowns and improve machine life.
  • Breakdown Management – Ensure quick response, root-cause analysis (RCA), and permanent corrective actions for breakdowns.
  • Maintenance Planning & Execution – Manage manpower, spares, tools, contractors, and maintenance activities effectively.
  • Automation & Improvement – Drive automation, machine modifications, Kaizen, and energy-saving initiatives to improve productivity.
  • MTBF & MTTR Improvement – Monitor and improve key maintenance KPIs such as MTBF, MTTR, machine availability, and breakdown hours.
  • Safety & Compliance – Ensure maintenance activities comply with safety standards, LOTO, statutory requirements, and company procedures.
  • Cost Control – Control maintenance expenses, spare consumption, repair costs, and external service costs within budget.
  • Team Management – Lead, train, and develop maintenance engineers, technicians, and operators.
  • Production Coordination – Work closely with Production, Quality, and Tool Room teams to ensure uninterrupted production.

  1. Technical Expertise – Strong knowledge of CNC, VMC, grinding machines, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical and automation systems.
  2. Problem Solving & RCA – Ability to identify root causes and implement permanent corrective actions.
  3. Maintenance Planning – Expertise in PM/PdM, breakdown management, MTBF/MTTR and machine reliability.
  4. Leadership & Team Management – Ability to lead, motivate and develop maintenance engineers and technicians.
  5. Cost & Resource Management – Effective control of maintenance costs, spares, manpower and contractors.
  6. Continuous Improvement – Strong focus on Kaizen, TPM, automation, energy saving and productivity improvement.
  7. Safety & Compliance – Knowledge of LOTO, machine safety and statutory/organizational requirements.
  8. Communication & Coordination – Effective coordination with Production, Quality, Tool Room and other functions.
