The role of a Plant Controller / Plant Finance Head

·      Accounting & Book Closing

1. Making necessary accrual / provision during month end closing
2. Periodic review of GL statements for accuracy
3. Key supplier & customer account reconciliation

·      Costing & Cost analysis

1. Preparation of Part wise VA analysis & Gross margin analysis
2. Analysing production costs and work with plant head on opportunities for cost reduction.
3. Allocating costs if required accurately to various departments or products to facilitate decision-making.
4. Asset no and cost centre linking and ensure accurate cost centre grouping.
5. Ensure accuracy of BOM & Routing. 

·      Reporting and Analysis

1. Monthend Plant  Financial statements.
2. Preparing bridge to explain the gaps against budget or any abnormal items or one timer
3. Inventory aging report – achieve  DSI target for plant
4. Receivable aging report- Achieve DSO target for plant
5. Pending GRIR report
6. Expenses analysis and cost control measures.
7. Accountable for accuracy in Fixed asset register.

·      Budgeting, Forecasting and mapping financial goal of Plants

1. Developing financial plans and strategies to support the plant's goals.
2. Collaborating with plant management to align financial objectives with operational objectives.
3. Assisting in long-term financial planning for the plant.

·      Compliance , Regulation & Risk Management

1. Ensuring compliance of various law  such as Income tax, GST, local authority and so on>
2. Updating the relevant compliance proof in the central repository.
3. Preparing financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting principles.
4. Coordinate with HR and other function and ensure compliance of other functions.

·      Auditing and Internal Control

1. Implementing internal controls to safeguard plant assets and financial data with the help of corporate team.
2. Facilitating external audits and ensuring audit compliance
3. Corrective action and implementation of audit observations
4. Periodic monitoring of internal control check points
5. Achieve internal audit rating target % for the plant

·      Working Capital management & Fixed assets monitoring

1.  Monitoring of Inventory reports for category wise overall inventory, slow moving inventory and inventory on days requirements.
2. Periodic physical inventory stock taking
3. Receivable aging monitoring
4. Monitoring of Idle asset
5. Periodic physical stock taking of plant fixed assets.
6. Monitoring of on time capitalisation of Fixed assets
7. Checking depreciation posting for correctness of posting.        

·      Communication and Collaboration

1. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including operations and procurement.
2. Communicating financial information and insights to non-financial stakeholders.

·      Continuous Improvement

1. Identifying opportunities for process improvement in financial and accounting functions.
2. Staying updated on industry best practices and emerging trends in finance.

·      Team Leadership

1. Managing a team of financial professionals, if applicable.
2. Providing guidance, mentoring, and support to the finance team members.
