Job Description:
PRIME FUNCTION
To supervise and manage deburring, polishing, and surface finishing activities for aerospace components by effectively handling manpower, machines, materials, and methods while ensuring adherence to aerospace quality, safety, and productivity standards.
JOB DESCRIPTION / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform edge deburring, hole deburring, and surface finishing of aerospace parts as per drawing requirements
- Use tools such as: Deburring blades / hand scrapers, Sandpaper / emery sheets, Pneumatic air guns & Orbital sanders
- Ensure removal of burrs, sharp edges, and surface defects without affecting part geometry
- Maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish per aerospace specifications
- Interpret engineering drawings and work instructions
- Inspect parts visually and using measuring instruments (vernier, gauges if applicable)
- Follow process sheets, SOPs, and quality standards (AS9100 awareness preferred)
- Maintain 5S and workplace safety practices
- Handle components carefully to avoid FOD (Foreign Object Damage) risks
- Support continuous improvement (Kaizen) activities
- Coordinate with quality and production teams for defect resolution
AUTHORITY
- Allocate and monitor manpower within the deburring and finishing section.
- Ensure adherence to production schedules and quality requirements.
- Stop operations in case of quality or safety non-conformance.
- Recommend process improvements and corrective actions.
- Coordinate with cross-functional departments for production-related issues.
JOB SPECIFICATION / COMPETENCY
Qualification:
- ITI / Diploma Preferably Mechanical background (with relevant experience)
Experience:
- 8–12 years in deburring / finishing / production
- Aerospace or precision machining experience preferred
Technical Knowledge:
- Hands-on experience in manual deburring and polishing operations.
- Knowledge of aerospace surface finish requirements and basic Ra value awareness.
- Familiarity with manual and pneumatic tools.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Basic knowledge of measuring instruments and inspection methods.
- Knowledge of FOD control procedures.
- Exposure to AS9100 / NADCAP environment preferred.
